 Promotional Examination Minimize

A Word about Promotional Examinations and Requirements

It is important to understand that the requirements Shufu Judo Yudanshakai uses for its promotional examinations only determine the eligibility of the candidate for promotion.  Fulfillment of the requirements by the candidate does not guarantee promotion.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to provide documentation supporting requests for promotion.  Relevant documentation includes:

All paperwork must be complete with clear identification of class (A-E) and points for competitors.  Missing, incomplete or inaccurate paperwork is sufficient grounds for not promoting the candidate.

Black Belt Background Checks

In addition, anyone requesting promotion to black belt must comply with a background check by the USJF as part of the promotion process.  Government clearance may be able to be substituted.  Check with your sensei or USJF.

 Urgent Notices for Promotionals Minimize

Effective Immediately (04/25/2009)

NO ONSIGHT REGISTRATION. Pre-register for the event or wait until the next promotional. Going up for promotion should not be a last minute decision. Commit to going up for promotion with the entry form and study.

NO PROMOTIONS WITHOUT EXAMINATION. No judoka participating as “competition only” will be considered for promotion. If you want to be considered for promotion, sign up for the promotions.

ALL DOCUMENTATION MUST BE SUBMITTED IN ADVANCE. If documentation is not submitted, the promotion will not be considered. This includes a record of your points, kata scores, membership, certifications, and forms. Please turn the documentation in on time. If you need more time for your documentation (i.e. you need to have your kata graded, you plan on competing between the entry for date and the promotional, …) then you can use the 2 week grace period for documentation. You must send in the entry from on time with an explanation of what documentation is missing, and when you plan on submitting the missing data. Supporting Data may be turned in up to 2 weeks after the entry form deadline.

REQUIRED supporting data: ·

  • Photocopy of valid Full membership USJF, USA Judo, or USJA card. (USA Judo and USJA will only be recommendations for promotion, not promotions) ·

  • Completed and TYPED Form 20 for all Dan ranks ·
